The Fascinating World of Bees

NEW GUEST ACTIVITY
A perfect choice for families with young children –

Do you know that we have our own bees and our own beekeeper at The Lombok Lodge Private Villa Estate?  Our bees produce honey that is served for breakfast and during the daily Traditional Afternoon Tea- & Jamu Services at our properties.

Together with Pak Nyoman, Beekeeper at The Lombok Lodge, I am proud to introduce you to our new guest activity, the Fascination World of Bees!

APIOLOGY – THE ART OF BEEKEEPING
Beekeeping, also known as Apiology, is an ancient tradition and practice that dates back to 35th Century BC. Keeping honeybees for honey contributes to a healthy environment as these mysterious creatures are responsible for the pollination of crops and plants.

The art of beekeeping requires skill and patience. A successful beekeeper will understand the bee colony balance and bee health.

Bees face several challenges today that are also attributed to by climate change. As pollinators, bees play a vital part in the ecosystem as they support the growth of natural habitats where animals and other creatures can thrive. If bees ceased to exist, most of the animals and insects as we know them today would disappear. Without bees, we would not have food on our plates.

THE SECRETS OF THE WORLD OF BEES

Discover the magic of these hardworking and vital creatures while staying with us at The Lombok Lodge Hotel, Medana Bay or at The Lombok Lodge Private Villa Estate, Gondang Village. We organize daily workshops for our resident guests!

What would happen if there were no more bees? With the production our own ‘Madu Raja Trigona’ Honey, The Lombok Lodge introduces its youngest guests and accompanying adults to the secrets of the world of bees and our surrounding.
In a 45-minute workshop, the guests can join our professional local beekeeper Pak Nyoman and learn more about the fascinating world of bees, the production of honey and what our “busy” bees need to create this sweet and super healthy temptation.

The workshops will be held on The Private Villa Estate grounds, where the beehives are located. Although our bee colonies consist of stingless bees, the hotel will provide beekeeper protective nets & hats and gloves.

Our beekeeping taster sessions last approximately 45 minutes and cover an introduction to beekeeping with our resident beekeeper Pak Nyoman.

Following an informative talk, there is an opportunity to get ‘hands on’ with our very own bees, bee-protecting-nets will be provided. You will be taken to our hotel garden where some of our hives are situated and shown the inside of the hives and how the honey is formed.
